Act 1
In Act 1, the story picks up with immediate fighting between the Capulets and Montagues. Some servants from both houses are caught fighting in the streets of Verona, and Prince Escalus decrees that any fighting between them will be result of death. It is also the act when Juliet is told she is to marry Paris, but falls in love with Romeo at a party instead.
Act 2
In the beginning of the act, Romeo and Juliet have their first secret meeting and make plans to marry. The Friar Laurence agrees to it, thinking it would be beneficial to both houses. Before the marriage, The Nurse meets with Romeo and determines he is worthy to marry Juliet, and they marry that day.
Act 3
The beginning of Act 3 is a major turning point in the play. Right in scene one, Mercutio dies due to a blow from Tybalt. Romeo was present at the time and was, ironically, trying to separate the two when Mercutio was stuck. Not long after that, Romeo takes revenge for Mercutio on Tybalts life. After killing him, Romeo flees, only to be banished from Verona by the Prince. Juliet catches wind of the news and is immediately concerned for Romeo. Romeo and Juliet meet later that night in secret, which only leaves her more depressed. To only make things worse, Capulet has promised Juliet's hand to the County Paris.
Act 4
This act is another turning point in the play. In the beinning, Juliet goes to see Friar Laurence to find away to not marry Paris and be with Romeo. The Friar, after hearing her claim to take her own life, gave Juliet a potion to make her seem dead. After taking it, her parents find her dead the morning of her wedding.
Act 5
Act five is the last act of the play and, in my opinion, the most dramatic. A friend of Romeo sees Juliet at her burial and rushes to Mantua to tell him. Hearing that Juliet was dead, Romeo goes to an apothecary and buys poison to take him life. Little did he know, that Friar Laurence had sent a letter to him explaining Juliet's "death". The letter didn't reach Romeo in time, so he went straight to Capel's monument to see Juliet. He meets Paris at the burial chamber and they fight. Paris lost and died at the hands of Romeo. At the sight of Juliet, he kisses her then drinks the poison. Right after he dies, the Friar comes, and Juliet woke up to see Romeo and Friar Laurence. The Friar offered to take her with him and then he hurried out of the room. When the Friar left, Juliet kisses Romeo then stabs herself. In the end, the Montagues and the Capulets make up when they find their dead children and learn of their secret love.
